So when Lauren contacted me about the possibility of photographing her wedding to Greg in Ibiza, I literally screamed at the poor girl. I WAS BEYOND EXCITED. This was something I really, really wanted to do. Yes I would fly in and out in less than 48 hours. Yes I would crash at their villa. Yes I would capture all those moments as they happened and not bother with a ton of overly posed stuff. Yes I would wake up next to strange people and probably have a friend for life in Laura who shared an enormous sofa with me both nights I was there…because that’s Ibiza right?! Yes, yes and yes again. Of course I bloody would and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Lauren & Greg wanted a party, and it was a party that they had. It all happened at The Cotton Beach Club, surrounded by their friends and family (the vast number of them is testament to the lovely people this couple are) they took their vows in a club on the beach as the sun went down and then partied the night away. The weather was hot, the food was delicious, the music didn’t stop and the dancing was electric, as well as the saxophone…honest to god I don’t know how that guy kept going all night.
I feel very lucky to have had a destination wedding like this one, that was so relaxed and inclusive. It might seem extravagant to some to fly your photographer to your wedding destination, but sometimes it’s the difference between going with the available local photographer who shoots the standard venue stuff there every week, or one who will look at it with the same new eyes you do and feel just like one of your mates!
And can you just stop for a moment and take a look at that dress…
