Zoe is the sister of my husband’s best man’s wife. Which makes us practically related right?! Well OK, not really, but we’ve met a couple of times which made it lovely to be asked to be their wedding photographer because they’d actually met me and still wanted me to do it! They had (what didn’t look for one iota of a second) a very handmade Bassmead Manor Barns wedding that had me excited from the off. I say that it didn’t look handmade because these two are so freaking skilled at fabric and wood and decor and stuff that quite honestly, it looked to me to be a professional and expensive job. I was mightily impressed. I was also mightily impressed with how bloody lovely they were and how amazing their day was. Here it is in brief…Read More
Debs & Daryl gifted me my first Sherwood Forest Wedding and despite being at dusk, in March, the weather did not misbehave and these two got just the wedding they planned…even if it was pitch black by the time the ceremony ended because the bride was a little late! We’d talked about the possibility of rain, wind, hail and complete darkness so they knew exactly what to expect and I have to say that their determination to get married outside come rain or shine was entirely admirable…I’m just can’t help being more than a little bit pleased the bad weather decided to stay away day! I was only with them for four short hours but we covered so much in that time, this is just a small part of it…
When I suggested to these two outdoor, bike enthusiasts that we hire a tandem and head to the water they didn’t argue one little bit! As it’s on my door step, Rutland Water Engagement photos are something of a speciality of mine so it was great to add a little bit extra to this one. Laura & Adam are getting married on New Years Eve at Oakham Castle with their reception at The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham so pulling in another Rutland Landmark seemed only right for their warm up shoot. I had so much fun with these two and I’m already looking forward to partying with them at the close of the year! When I suggested a tandem ride to Laura & Adam for their wedding warm up session there was no argument, we were good to go!
This little lot mean the world to me and so I jumped at the chance to photograph them. When I left their house after shooting I got a message, worried that it had been total and utter bedlam and did I actually manage to get anything?! And in a word…YES! Crazy family photos at home are one of my favourite things to capture and if the baby is screaming or the toddler is having a tantrum then so be it. That shit happens. However, in amongst the madness are also moments of calm you don’t realise I am capturing so I can always show the peace alongside the chaos. When I handed over these photos they couldn’t of been happier, telling me I had captured them exactly as they are, and how they love to be. Family is as it is, I love seeing it that way.
So I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed Rose & Matthew’s big day. I’ve photographed a lot of weddings that have happened at home, but this Leicestershire home wedding was something of a giant with a big guest list and an even bigger setting. In the grounds of Rose’s grandparents house, they created a stunning haven…that housed one hell of a party. Rose didn’t allow it, and nor did anyone else so the rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of the day. Right from the off everyone was buzzing, the ceremony was personal, the guests were hilarious and the dance floor was NEVER empty. Even the bride changed in the evening so she could make the most of the tunes and fling her her around a bit. This is only a small fraction of their day, but sums up just how wonderful it was.
Bhavika and Sam are due to be married this July and were keen to include a pre wed shoot in their package which always makes me so happy. It might sound a bit over the top to some but the more time I get to spend with my couples ahead of the big day, the happier I am. My absolute favourite part of the job is getting to know people and it’s such a huge part of what I do and the photos that I take. Together with these two, we decided on Rutland engagement photos, making the most of the local scenery around Rutland Water and also planning it to run before and after dark. There is always a little room for nerves at the start of a shoot but I normally just act like an idiot and talk my way through it in order to relax people and it was […]
Noreen and Kieran were such a lovely couple to work with last year. Not only did we have a jolly old time in Bradgate Park on their engagement shoot, their vibrant Leicester wedding was one of my favourites and has also made it to the final of East Midlands Wedding Magazine ‘Wedding of the Year’ competition. From the moment I met them I knew their wedding would be colourful. I love being a Leicester wedding photographer for the abundance of different people from all backgrounds that you meet at weddings and this one was no exception. Noreen has a huge Irish family who had travelled from all over to be there and were expecting no less than the party of the year! It was all go right from the off and with a house full of people (brothers and bridesmaids included) the champagne flowed and the laughter never stopped. Amy chose […]
I don’t know if you know this, but it snowed today. No really, it did. And despite the fact that if you were to look outside my front door right now, there would be not one single trace of snow anywhere, it was a magical moment for Elsie this morning when we managed some snow day fun. The last time it snowed she was only a baby and has no memory of it other than what she has since seen on Peppa Pig. She was a little trooper today and quite determined to catch a snowflake on her gloves. But alas (I was secretly happy) it wasn’t long before she decided the biting wind was a bit too much and she wanted to go home. As she clung to her Pa’s legs every time a huge gust threatened to blow her away I thought it only sensible to oblige, so […]
In case you hadn’t noticed it’s January! AND…that means, not only am I giving my health and wellbeing a boost, but I am giving you guys one too with a January promotion. Which basically means if you book your wedding with me this month then I will give you a free mini engagement shoot of one hour. Lots of people turn their noses up at engagement shoots but you would be surprised the amount of people who have told me that they were so pleased they decided to do it…men included! Having your photo taken by a professional can be daunting, especially when you are already nervous about the big day and know that all eyes will be on you. Getting together with your photographer ahead of the main event is more beneficial than you might think. It gives the two of you a chance to be you, with no pressures […]
Today I got up a little earlier than usual and made it out for a Rutland Water sunrise. A few times in the past couple of weeks I’ve been driving past the water when the sun was on it’s way up and I’ve been so annoyed at either not having my camera or not having the time to stop. I decided then, to have a little quiet time, just me, my camera and I, down on the shore of Rutland Water where I know very few people go and I could roll around, climb some fences and nearly fall in without anyone seeing. I have to admit to being a little disappointed that there was no fog on this particular morning but I still enjoyed the tranquility, there is nothing quite like it when the only company you have is the birds. And I don’t mean sparrows, I mean geese, […]
