It’s been a long old time since I added to the blog and I need to amend that because there have been so many changes to keep you updated on, the most important being that a large part of my work is now commercial photography.

First and foremost, I AM STILL A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER! After 15 years the love and passion I have for it is absolutely still there but the past few years have meant that I have had to shift the balance and start touting other income streams. I now shoot ten weddings or less a year and the rest of my time is taken up with commercial photography work. Shooting a reduced number of weddings is beneficial in many ways and the first being client relations. When I was shooting 40+ weddings a year, I had zero time to meet all those couples and felt like I was failing by not giving them the attention they deserved. This year though, I have had couples over for cuppas, games, and even dinner. I have had long and lazy conversations on the phone and was absolutely delighted when a meet up in London was possible ahead of one big day. These things are so important to me, and while I love the work, I love the relationships even more. I feel like good things have come from the position I found myself in and I am running with it. That said, I’m already half booked for next year so if you want me to photograph your wedding in 2025 you had better get in touch!

All my experience as a wedding photographer means I have the skills to photograph many other things and that is exactly what I have been doing to fill my time. Throughout 2024 I have had the pleasure of photographing so many local businesses, individuals, bands, events and even schools. The list is so much longer than I was expecting and it’s been a pleasure to make so many new contacts…and friends.

commercial photography leicester
A collaboration with Amitie Wardrobe Styling meant I got to work at one of my favourite natural light studios in Leicester, HK Curated Space. It also gave me the creative freedom to come up with some of the concepts for the shoot, something I am totally open to in the future. My brain goes a million miles a minute so if you are up for a play, let me know!
school photography
I spent three days with Brooke Priory School photographing all aspects of school life, on and off campus. Sport, drama, science, art and even welly day. So many amazing images came from this project and I’m delighted to have been asked back to photograph an event in the coming weeks.

There is a plethora of amazing independent businesses in this world run by wonderful people and I intend to get to know as many of them as I can. The Handy Family Company recently came on a stomp round Rutland Water with me so I could photograph their team and they are just one of many companies who have asked me to picture them for updated websites, social content or mail outs.

My daughter has gotten in on the act too (of course she has) and took great pleasure in running wild for me when I worked at Rumble Live doing my best to capture the energy and fun of laser tag.
Event photography
Weddings lead so seamlessly in to events and I am proud to say that I am the photographer for The Small Business Awards which has events all around the country.

I could go on and on but I just wanted to give you a taste of what I have been up to alongside the weddings I still hold so close to my heart. I won’t ever leave completely! You can come at me for all of your photographic needs now via my new website… REES IMAGES. It’s not complete yet and I have so much to update but I would appreciate any visits or shares you are able to give. Thanks so much for your support so far x
